Al Gore 2007 "awards"

Al Gore, after claiming 2007 has been an “interesting year” was named 2007 Tennessean of the Year, one of Nashville’s highest honors. After being widely criticized for the energy bills from his Tennessee mansion, Gore has made changes to make the house more energy efficient, including installing solar panels, a rainwater collection system, and geothermal heating. Former aides to Vice President Al Gore say that the chances of Gore endorsing a democratic candidate are slim. Also, Justice Burton's criticism of Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth was the most read legal story of 2007.

Pass the Puck

In the News: At a UN climate change conference held in Bali, Al Gore endearingly urged action against the global warming front (ie Kyoto Protocol), with or without the United States. In fact, Mr. Gore went so far as to accuse the US of being "principally responsible for obstructing progress," driving home his point with a a rather confusing Canadian hockey analogy.

On the Warm Front: The rennovations to Mr. Gore's non-environmentally friendly Tennessee mansion are complete; the upgrades include solar panels, a geothermal heating system, a rainwater collection system, and special light bulbs. According to the AP, these improvements cut electrical consumption 11% and natural gas consumption by 93%, compared to a year ago; pre-rennovations, the Gore house ran on 16,000 kilowatt hours/month, while the average TN home runs on 1,300.

Gore visits London, no plans for NH

As stated by a member of his public relations department, Al Gore has no plans to visit New Hampshire this month, despite possible plans to host an event in the state. In terms of his "possible" (Despite him having 'no plans' to run) plans to run as a presidential nominee, this only seems to confirm him as a non-contender for the presidential nomination. Without the desire to campaign in important primary states, it seems clear that Gore is not planning on entering the race... at least yet. (The possibility still remains open for the future!)
However, while Gore may not be visiting New Hampshire, he did recently visit London, giving a talk to a group of attendees, each paying from 2,000 to 100,000 dollars (USD) to see the Nobel Prize winner speak. Unfortunately for Gore, he was not well received by the audience, allegedly boring many and driving some to the brink of sleep. Worse than this, Gore did not even stick around after the talk to mingle with the guests at all. Additionally, there is some anger towards Gore for the amount of money he made from delivering the speech alone, as he was paid roughly 3,300 pounds (GBP) per minute of his speech.

In the news: Al Gore congratulated Britain’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown on his efforts pertaining to climate change. Also, Kylie Minogue will perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert honoring Al Gore on his achievements. Abroad, Al Gore will be a keynote speaker at the Fortune Forum Summit at London’s Royal Courts of Justice. He will be accompanied by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and various Hollywood stars. The purpose of the forum is to discuss solutions for climate change, global poverty, and healthcare issues. Also, Al Gore’s Climate Crisis website was hacked by spammers trying to manipulate SERPs. The spammers added links to pharmaceutical companies and those companies received higher search results than usual. Al Gore will no longer have any problems with the Australian Prime Minister. The newly sworn in, Kevin Rudd, is putting global warming at the top of his list of things to do. Also, Al Gore has stated that a switch from incandescent light bulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs will help save the climate from global warming. He is backed up by the Environmental Protection Agency, California, Canada, and the European Union. Also, President Bush invited Al Gore to the White House to congratulate him on his Nobel Peace Prize. Al Gore has not set foot in the White House since 2001.

Plot Twist?

This past week, Al Gore has become a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, an alternative energy firm in Silicon Valley, and has pledged to donate his salary to Alliance for Climate Protection. Yet, despite the TV ad campaigns, promising polls, and amusing songs from his supporters, Draft Gore, the former VP has dug his heels in at every mention of running in the 2008 presidential election. In fact, his staff went do far as to request that California Draft Gore stop its attempts to put Gore's name on the state's primaries ballot.

Will the refusals continue? Despite his seemingly firm stance, activists are still requesting donations for a nonexistent campaign; furthermore, in a statement to his avid California supporters, Gore said " [if] I decide for sure not to be a candidate again – well, sorry. But if I do get back involved in the political system at some point in the future – well, keep that energy stored up and let’s have a go at it then."

Will Al Gore heed the call of the American public? Or will he leave that job to.....

Al Gore in the Oval Office?

Due to his recent triumph, being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, Al Gore has been speaking to President George Bush about attending an honorary ceremony, held in the Oval Office of the White House, for the winners of the Nobel Prizes. It seems that there is some speculation over if Gore will take the visit as more bitter than sweet, since he lost the election in 2000 against President Bush; however, Gore's spokespeople assure that this is not the case. Furthermore, there is more speculation over the possibility of - perhaps - Gore opening talks with Bush concerning the topic of global warming, as the two have taken extremely opposing views on the issue.

This could turn out to be interesting, if some talks were to start....
